Art and technology have always evolved in tandem, and the emergence of blockchain and Web3 technologies has fueled this evolution, creating a whole new canvas for artists and creators to create, share ideas and build community, but success requires funding.
The Aptos Foundation is proud to contribute to the evolution and support of the arts through our new $20 million Artist Grant Program (AGP). The initiative has delivered $3 million to artists looking to create using blockchain and Web3.
working method
AGP is a rolling grant program designed to support artists and creatives in all media. The program will be launched on the Aptos Foundation website, where artists can register by filling out a form.
Approved applicants will receive funding and will be able to fully utilize the infrastructure required by the Aptos ecosystem and directly contact the Aptos core team for needed support. They will also benefit from an exclusive community of other creatives for idea sharing and project planning.
What's the difference?
Other grant programs in Web3 bring artists and creators into a rigid, well-established system with little or no input in the development process. The Aptos Foundation is interested in bringing in artists and creators early to help shape the values and diversity of the AGP community. Additionally, artists and creators selected to receive grants are able to work directly with the Aptos Foundation to build new projects that best support creators.
In other words, AGP's equity free grants will allow artists to pursue their passions and earn an additional revenue stream while utilizing Web3.
Why now?
The Artist Grant Program is designed to attract top talent to Web3, reward artists for creating new art on Aptos, and create a thriving community of creators.Aptos recognizes the tremendous potential of blockchain and Web3 technology, and the AGP is just one of the many initiatives the foundation is taking to support and empower creators in this space.
While similar programs have been introduced in the past, AGP is designed to deploy capital quickly and efficiently and to scale the impact of artists in the ecosystem. The Aptos Foundation has already deployed more than $3 million to artists and builders in the NFT space and is committed to continuing to support creators.
We launched AGP because we wanted to give artists and creators the opportunity to shape Web3-driven projects from the start. In addition to funding and support, we want to help artists navigate a crowded industry and explore new creative ecosystems, and we want to give them every opportunity to thrive in a Web3 environment like Aptos.
